5th Grade Social Studies

United States, Canada, and Latin America

The Fifth grade course, while building on and reinforcing previous learning, is aimed at bringing the student to a broader understanding of the History of the United States and its’ relationship to Canada and Latin America. To accomplish the above, specific emphasis is placed on key aspects of early life in the Western Hemisphere to present times. Content from the region is used to develop the basic social studies skills and understandings mentioned above.

6th Grade Social Studies

Europe and the Middle East

The 6th grade course, while building on and reinforcing previous learning, is aimed at bringing the student to a fuller realization of his/her relationship to other members of different world cultures and communities. To accomplish the above, specific emphasis is placed on key aspects of life in Europe and the Middle East in ancient and present times. Content from the two regions is used to develop the basic social studies skills and understandings mentioned above.
